Our weekend jaunts to the Olympic Mountains are becoming more frequent. Still just dayhikes, but Ken and I are considering some overnight backpacking trips. It has been fun having dogs along (pictured is our friend Sarah and dog Bama) as well which has spurred the idea of a puppy. However, we need to wait until we know where we are going next year. Some countries require you to quarantine dogs before entering, which we do not want to do. Sarah's husband Jeff was not along because they own a high-end dog store in the area - so we know where to go for the goods if needed.

Ken and Dave hosted this year's Hail and Farewell. This is a dinner and skit event that signals the end/beginning of the resident year. The skits are all on video and narrated in an SNL Weekend Update style theme. After that event, we had 60 people at our house! This is our second year of hosting a much smaller 4th of July party and watching the fireworks off our deck. You can see the outline of Rainier faintly too.
